ServicesLuxury Vinyl Plank
Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation in Humble, TX
We install luxury vinyl plank over slabs and wood subfloors in your home. First we check the floor for flatness and moisture. Then we tell you what it needs and what drives the price, before any plank goes down.

What vinyl plank is and when it fits
Luxury vinyl plank is a layered floor made to look like wood. Most of what we install is rigid core with a click-lock edge. The planks lock together and float over the subfloor. A clear wear layer on top takes the scuffs, and a thicker one lasts longer in busy rooms.
It is a good pick for kitchens, baths, laundry rooms and homes with pets or kids, because spills sit on top instead of soaking in. The planks are waterproof. The concrete under them is not, so we still test for moisture. That matters on the slab foundations most houses around Humble sit on.
If you want real wood, read our Hardwood Flooring page. If budget is the main driver, Laminate Flooring is worth a look. Tell us the room and how you use it, and we will say which one makes sense.

What the job includes
- 01
Subfloor check
We run a long straightedge across the slab or plywood and take moisture readings. Most planks need the floor flat within about 3/16 inch over 10 feet. You see what we find before we price the fix.
- 02
Old floor removal
We pull up carpet, pad, tack strip, old vinyl or laminate and haul it off. Tile is a heavier tear-out, so it shows as its own line on the estimate.
- 03
Leveling and prep
Low spots get patch or self-leveler. High spots get ground down. This step is what keeps planks from clicking underfoot or pulling apart at the ends later.
- 04
Door jambs and trim
We undercut door jambs so planks slide under clean. Baseboards come off and go back on, or we add quarter round. You pick.
- 05
Transitions
Where plank meets tile, carpet or a sliding door track, we set a transition piece at the right height so nothing catches a toe.
- 06
Cleanup and coverage
Before we head out, the floor gets vacuumed and wiped down. Our company is insured for the hours we spend inside your house. The way we put the plank in is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty, which applies to all installations.
Questions about Luxury Vinyl Plank?
Call(346) 253-1583Signs your floor is ready for vinyl plank
Carpet that holds pet odors
Once urine soaks into the pad, cleaning only goes so far. Vinyl plank wipes clean and does not hold smells.
Laminate swelling at the seams
Laminate near a dishwasher, fridge line or tub often puffs up at the edges after a leak. Vinyl plank shrugs off that kind of water.
Sheet vinyl peeling up
Old sheet vinyl curls at seams and doorways as the glue gives out. It usually comes up easy, which keeps prep costs down.
Cracked or hollow tile
Tap a tile and hear a hollow sound, and it has lost its bond. Sometimes we go right over it. Sometimes it has to come up. We will tell you which after we look.
Too many floor types
Carpet here, tile there, a strip of something else in the hall. One plank run through the main rooms makes the house feel bigger and cuts down on transitions.
How the work goes
- 1
Phone call and visit
On the phone, give us a rough idea of which rooms you want done and what flooring sits in them today. Then we stop by, measure and test the subfloor. You get a written estimate with each part listed.
- 2
Delivery and acclimation
Planks show up ahead of install day and sit in the rooms with the AC running. We follow the plank maker's instructions on how long.
- 3
Install day
We move furniture out of the way, take up the old floor and prep the subfloor. Then we lay the planks with an expansion gap at every wall. A few rooms usually run one to three days.
- 4
Trim and walkthrough
Baseboards or quarter round go on, transitions go in and we clean up. Then we walk the floor with you. If something bugs you, say so before we pack up.
What moves the price on vinyl plank
Price comes down to square footage, the plank you choose and what is under the old floor. That last part we cannot know until we look, so we check it before we quote. Your estimate lists each piece so nothing new shows up halfway through.
- Size and layout
- A big open living area goes quickly. Every closet, odd corner and door opening adds cuts, and cuts add labor hours and a bit more wasted plank.
- The plank itself
- Thickness, core type and wear layer all change the material cost. A 20 mil wear layer costs more than 12 mil and holds up better to dog nails and chair legs.
- What comes up first
- Carpet and pad come out quick. Glued-down vinyl and tile take a lot more labor and more disposal.
- Subfloor condition
- A flat, dry slab needs little. Dips, humps or old adhesive mean leveling compound or grinding, and we price that on its own line.
- Trim and stairs
- New baseboards cost more than reusing the old ones. Stairs are their own job; see our Stair Flooring page.
Vinyl plank questions
Can vinyl plank go over my existing tile?
Often, yes. The tile has to be solid and flat, and deep grout lines may need filling so they do not show through. It does raise the floor a bit, so we check door clearance and appliance fit first.
Is vinyl plank really waterproof?
The planks are. Water from a big leak can still run through the seams and sit on the slab underneath. A spill is no problem. A burst supply line still means pulling planks to dry things out.
Can my kitchen island sit on top of it?
Not on a floating install. Heavy fixed items pin the floor so it cannot move with temperature changes, and it can buckle. We run the plank up to cabinets and islands instead.
How soon can we walk on it?
Right away with click-lock plank. Glue-down plank needs time for the adhesive to set, and we will tell you how long for the product you pick. Give it a day before sliding heavy furniture back.
What warranty comes with the install?
Every installation gets our 1-year workmanship warranty. That covers how we put the floor in. The plank itself is covered separately by its maker's product warranty.
